A Piece of Railroad History
The dining car has a fascinating history. It was built in 1929 by American Car and Foundry in Saint Louis for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. Originally named the “Globe Coffee House”, it served on L&N named trains with a seating capacity of 36 and a crew of 9. After retiring from railroad service, it found a new life in Pensacola and Montgomery, Alabama, working in wrecker service.
In 1942, the L&N began naming their dining cars after hotels and restaurants along their route, and our “Globe Coffee House” seems to have been named after a famous Cincinnati restaurant founded by Lew Boman in the 1800s.
Our dining car is heated and air conditioned, ensuring a comfortable environment year round!
We have a fully equipped kitchen available, making it convenient to cater your party with your favorite dishes.
Please note that we do not permit the serving or consumption of alcoholic beverages in the dining car.
